Roger Cave, Alec Fincham series

A friend who lurks on the website Lulu recommended this rare find to me knowing that I've been a fan of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels since I was a girl.

Roger Cave is an author who deserves a big name contract because his Alec Fincham series is a cross between Bond and a Tom Clancy novel.

The Sicilian Defense
This is a delightful reading experiance for military fans. Based in the United Kingdom, Alec Fincham's Special Boat squad tackles what no body else would ask to or want to and in such a well written, well described way that it will draw a reader in at page one and not let go until you close the book
It seems that Mr. Cave's works are only availble on Lulu.com at this time which is a shame given their rates on postage.

Linda Welch, Along Came a Demon

Now this was a fun book to read and to review. Most paranormal books that I read have ghosts or something similiar in them, this one...well it has that and a lot more. As my daughter said when she was done with it, it has plenty more....which I'm assuming she's referring to the other main character, Royal. It's a great read for those who enjoy mysteries, thrillers, paranormal and more and you'll love Tiff Banks.

Along Came a Demon
The first book in the Whisperings series by Linda Welch is a great book that I'd recommend for multi-genre readers. It's great for those who like detective stories, fantasy, paranormal.

Tiff Banks is a character, I hesitant to say heroine as that makes one think of swooning females in most cases, and that's not what this lady is. She speaks to those slain in the most violent ways. That makes for an interesting scene until I figured out that was what she was doing. She's tough but still a character that readers will relate to. The chemistry that strikes up with her relunctant partner, relunctant on her part, Royal is also not to be missed.

Linda Welch has written a telling, action packed paranormal tale that once I began, I couldn't put it down.
There's a second book in this series as well, Demon Hunters, but I haven't had a chance to read it fully yet.

Sierra Rose Books

I was actually scanning or Googling for new books when this author popped up. I read the description of her first novel, a paranormal book, and decided to try it. I'm pleased with the results. Since I read her first, I've also read her second novel which is in a totally different genre which I thought couldn't be done successfully by an unknown author but again, I am pleased. I'll post both reviews here in one post.

Celtic Evil: A Fitzgerald Brother Novel: Roarke
A highly entertaining and magical escape from reality. As an indpendent author I was surprised by the depth of Ms. Rose's characters, the plot, and also the ease in which magic was fitted into an otherwise modern world.

Each of these five brothers were written in a unique way that I found delightful as it allows a reader to have a favorite or to perhaps dislike certain qualities.

Readers will find themselves transported to Ireland in both an actual city and one created and I found no jarring change between the two. I loved the descriptions and could easily picture what she was describing.

An old time reader, this story carried me away with the magic is offered. I loved the characters, though some more than others which I assume is what the author was intending by making her five main characters so different in personality.

I noticed a couple grammar issues but nothing that I couldn't read past as I recognized early on in the story that the author had a more easy or relaxed style which I enjoyed.

This book was a superb way to start off the series.

S.E.A.L. Team Omega Flames of Betrayal
Superb new action series by an exciting author. I purchased this title after purchasing another title by this author and was wary. Could an action or military book be written convincingly by an author who wrote a paranormal romance? I'm to say that it could and I'm pleased by the purchase.

Flames of Betrayal starts out quickly and rarely lets up as the reader is taken along on a thrilling ride that involves spies, lies, and never really knowing who is working behind the scenes. Great page turner.

These characters are well-written, well rounded with quirks that will make them feel really solid and with the included team roster for the main team, it's easy to follow along.

I enjoyed the plot, the action scenes and the bits of romance that were included. The author didn't lose track of the plot she had and all loose ends were tied up by the end. It was also well written in the sense that someone with little to no military knowledge can still enjoy the story without feeling lost. She took great time in explaining the things that also wouldn't be normal for a military unit. It's really a superb action story in what appears to be a hot new series!
From a search of her Amazon page, she has another action title I'm looking into...once I get a better grasp on this Kindle for PC device. A Google search also states that these books are available on Barnes & Noble at a discounted price for those price conscious consumers.

Welcome to Book Review Plus

An avid reader for over sixty years, I just finally learned the joys of online book reading and this new wonderful joy of blogging.

In that discovery and also the discovery of what people like to call, self-published authors, I've found so many interesting new authors as well as some old favorites.

I've posted some reviews in various places, including Amazon and such of authors that I've read these past few months and I think that I might post them here as well for others who stumble on this to find.

Even may try this guest blogging if I can approach some authors who would be willing.
